Friday Confessions...

I almost missed it again!! But here goes this week's confession:

I would love to have more children!

Call it baby fever, call it crazy, lol but I love being a mommy! Milo is such an awesome blessing in my life. Motherhood has totally exceeded all my expectations. I think I have said it before, but even my worst day is better than ok because of my son! I really enjoy coming up with fun activities and planning cool trips for us and there's nothing like just spending quality time with my little bambino :).
When the time is right, I know Milo will be a great big brother. How many siblings would I like him to have you ask? Well...don't tell anyone, but at least 3 more babies are hopefully in my future! We shall see how God works it out :)
Happy Friday!!

12 Hour Shift...

What happens when your work schedule suddenly becomes 12 hour shifts three days a week?...

Your blog is abandoned, your confessions get lost, that "good read" stays on the night stand, devotions seem to lack energy, and breakfast for dinner becomes a new found staple. But that's just the first week. By week 2, the time management skills that I somehow developed in college :) kick in! I plan ahead and begin to prioritize my day. The awesome thing about working such a long day is that it really made me reflect on the things in my day that I spend alot of time on, and the things in my day that I actually need to spend time on. So what comes out being most important? Well here is the list I came up with:

1. Quiet time with God because he is my source! The breath, the strength, the patience, the will power to do what I do each day comes from the Lord. It's important for me to take out time to feed my soul and continue to work on my spiritual relationship. I start my morning prayer the minute I wake up and usually don't end until right before I leave the house for work! Before Milo goes to sleep we have begun singing one or two Praise and Worship songs :), and I'm taking time out before bed to read the bible.
2. Quality time with Milo because he is my fuel! It doesn't matter how exhausted I may be, the minute I see that beautiful smile and those precious eyes light up, I'm back at full force! It still isn't easy being away from him, but I am so blessed to be able to come home to his baby bear hugs and kisses. My son is what put that fire under me to expand my career, to take a chance and try something new. And so I read the extra books to him, dance a little longer with him, sing a little louder for him each and every night :).
3.Quick and easy cooking ideas and workout plan. Of course I'd like to say I come home in the evening ready to throwdown like Bobby Flay and tone and sculpt like Jillian Micheals...but usually this isn't the case. With this item, the first thing was to be realistic! I figured out that doing a 20 minute workout 3 times a week works best for me. For dinner ideas, I found that websites like kraftfoods.com, allrecipes.com, and those "bargain priced" cookbooks have loads of quick, easy, and healthy ideas. Of course planning meals ahead helps out too.
And lastly,
4. Quenching my thirst for knowledge! I have to be honest, I don't get a chance to read everyday. In my field of work, alot of the books I read have one sentence on each page :). But I do make it a point to check out a new article or finding on child development, families, etc. My newest is a actually a book that everyone at my job is reading called the Fred Factor.

I don't know exactly how long my schedule will be the way it is, but I'm sure if I can stick to the things that matter most I will make it each day with a smile!

Friday Confessions....

This Friday's confession is a bit late. Earlier today my baby bear began throwing up which has, in the past hour, turned into diarrhea :(. So with pedialyte sippy cup in one hand, and a saltine in the other, he is quietly sitting next to me while Team Umizoomi talks about the library. Which leads me to today's confession:

I feel absolutely helpless when my son is sick!

With their bodies being so small and fragile, there's just not much you can give them to make all the "ouchies" better. Especially the lovely viruses that have to "run it's course", three words I dread hearing from his pediatrician. Like any parent, when my little one isn't feeling so hot, my first response is to do whatever it takes to make it all better. Unfortunately, I'm discovering that sometimes there is nothing you can do...or is it? I think today I've learned how much it helps to have mommy or daddy near when baby doesn't feel good. I was lucky enough to already be off work and I think it gave my son comfort, even at his young age, to know that mommy was right there. With mommy and Nana at his every beckon call, today didn't turn out so bad for baby bear :).
What special things do you do for loved ones when they aren't feeling well? I'm back to mommy nurse duty :), everyone have a fantastic weekend!!

A cutie pie even when he's under the weather :). Thank God for saltines and pedialyte!! lol

Owl in Love

I'm in love with all things owl these days!! Last summer it was floral print, but this summer I'm stepping into my nocturnal-ness. I'm also excited about getting into shorts and being confident wearing them. I love this fun, flirty, and comfy look, especially the accessories! :)

Friday Confessions...

What an exciting and busy week this has been! I will be starting a new part time job soon that I'm super excited about, welcomed a new beautiful baby boy (my cousin's) into the family, and started jotting down things for my sister's bridal shower and bachelorette party. I'm definitely looking forward to the weekend and being able to hang out, sing, dance, snuggle, and laugh with my baby bear :). Next week I will be getting back to my blogging schedule, but I didn't want to miss doing my Friday Confession. It's actually very therapeutic and not as scary as I thought it would be. So here goes...

This Friday Confession is:

I'm horrible at saving money!

It's pretty embarrassing to be honest. I will have every intention to put money away for a "rainy day", but I always end up getting in it and spending it. The bad part is that it's not always spent on a need. So what to do when you are a bad budgeter??? Well there are two things that I have done so far that have helped out MAJOR. One is I went and started a 529 college savings account through my bank for Milo. This takes $50 out of my checking every month and deposits into an account for college, technical school, or whatever Milo decides to do after 18. It's great because it comes out automatically and I can't make withdrawals from it, lol. Another thing I did was  join a credit union this year. I chose KEMBA because quite a few of my family members are with them. KEMBA has accounts where you put money in them and choose the date that you want to take the money out. With these accounts you can only deposit money up until the date for the withdrawal. The funds will not be released until the date you specified when opening the account.
So, I'm working on being a better saver. I want to set a good example for Milo when it comes to budgeting and saving money. That, and I'm no longer frequenting Target stores like I used to :). What types of things do you do when you're trying to save up money?

Happy Friday!!!

My new nephew "Scooter" :)
